Extract of Speech from CHAK KONG KEONG
CTIM Perak Branch Chairman

First of all, on behalf of CTIM Perak, I would like to thank the Inland Revenue Board for hosting this dialogue with tax practitioners for the third year to discuss operational and technical issues. We truly appreciate the Inland Revenue Board’s efforts in engaging its stakeholders on such a regular basis. This initiative is indeed a good platform for networking, sharing of views and experiences and bonding between the IRB and tax practitioners. Syabas.

With rapid globalisation, the roles of a tax practitioner in business and also taxpayers are undergoing tremendous changes.

CTIM as the body responsible for matters concerning taxation in this country will carry its leading role effectively and efficiently. Core values of integrity, honesty and professionalism are integral parts of the profession. Our members, comprising accountants, licensed tax agents, lawyers, members from commerce and industry and other tax practitioners like members from the IRB will have to live up to our core values and also make continuous learning a part of our life to keep abreast with the current changes to ensure compliance of the laws.

Once again, we would like to record our sincere thanks to the IRB for organising this dialogue. I trust we will all have a fruitful and beneficial dialogue today.

Thank you.
