SMIDEC/MATRADE talks

To all CTIM Perak members

The local offices of Small and Medium Industries Development Corporation(SMIDEC) and Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) for the State of Perak Darul Ridzuan will respectively be giving a talk to our members to provide a better understanding and create awareness on the various types of activities/subsidies/financial assistance available to SMEs/SMIs.

The talks will be held on Friday, 23 October 2009, from 10.30 am till 12.45 pm at Level 9 Bangunan PTTC, Bandar Meru Jaya, Off Jalan Jelapang, 30020 Ipoh, Perak.

The talks are complimentary to CTIM Perak members but due to space limitation, registration will be on a first come first serve basis. Informal Networking Dinner - 1 October 2009

On 1 October 2009, CTIM Perak organised an informal networking dinner at a local restaurant here in Ipoh. Branch representatives/Committee members of various professional bodies attended the networking dinner which started off at 7.30pm.

Among the professional bodies present were ACCA, CIMA, CPA Australia, CTIM, MACS and MIA.

The attendees were seen mingling among themselves, exchanging cards and sharing views.

The Branch Chairman, Mr Loo Thin Tuck and the Deputy Branch Chairman, Mr Lam Weng Keat, gave a short insight on the objective of the informal networking dinner and thanked the various representatives of the various professional bodies for attending and hope there will be more events of this nature and to foster better co-operation and support of the activities held by the various bodies.

In conjunction with the occasion, CTIM Perak also took the opportunity to officiate its CTIM Perak INFORMATION BOARD on blogspot.

Some attendees took time off to view the information blog as dinner progresses.

The evening ended at about 9.45pm with a group photograph.

The Branch Chairman and the committee of CTIM Perak thanked everyone for their participation and look forward to future events.

Career talk at Politeknik Sultan Azlan Shah, Behrang

On 20 August 2009, CTIM Perak Deputy Branch Chairman, Mr Lam Weng Keat delivered a career talk to 150 final year semester students pursuing accountancy course at Politeknik Sultan Azlan Shah, Behrang in conjunction with its “Accountancy Day 2009” . The Deputy Branch Chairman gave an overview of the role and function of CTIM, the various routes to become a CTIM member, types of membership and the benefits of CTIM membership amongst others.

He also shared his experience, knowledge and views of the taxation profession and stressed the importance of maintaining professional values and integrity when they are CTIM members. Finally, the students were strongly encouraged to pursue their career in taxation and to apply for CTIM membership upon fulfilling the necessary requirements.

Sin Chew Daily - 10 July 2009

CTIM Perak Branch made it into Sin Chew Daily on 10 July 2009 with the announcement of its new committee for the year 2009/2010. The Branch Chairman, Mr Loo Thin Tuck briefed on the upcoming activities planned, which include the Northern Region Tax Forum, Annual Dinner and Dialogues with the Inland Revenue Department and Customs. He also took the opportunity to introduce the CTIM Examinations with the objective of training and building a pool of qualified tax personnel to address the shortage of qualified tax practitioners in the country.

Welcome to CTIM Perak Information Board!!

CTIM Perak had its first committee meeting on Monday, 6 July 2009.

The newly appointed Branch Chairman, Mr Loo Thin Tuck, welcomed and introduced the committee members for the year 2009/2010 as follows:-
